587-acre parcel of land

The City of Raleigh announced plans to create a 587-acre public park on the falls lake in 2003. Although the master plan was released in 2006, the project has remained in the bureaucratic limbo for five years. However, last week, the Army Corps of Engineers approved the Forest Ridge Environmental Assessment. The Army Corps owns the land in question and requires the environmental assessment to be approved before the development can proceed.

Forest Ridge Park is a 587-acre parcel of land adjacent to Falls Lake, and is located between the Wake Forest and Raleigh areas. It features an open space recreational area, biking trails, picnic shelters, and restroom facilities. The park is open to the public seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is a great place for families to spend their day.
