The Kiwanis Park NC splash pad is closed for the season and may remain closed indefinitely due to a green algae bloom. The algae was discovered during a routine inspection of the splash pad. The algae was discovered in a bucket, so the officials removed it. The algae grew in warm standing water, and officials are monitoring the water frequently to prevent the growth of more.
